Chords for a Cause began as uniquely as it has evolved. Late one evening (or early one morning-depending on how you see things), a Grammy-winning musician (Edwin McCain), the Mayor of Wilmington (Bill Saffo) and a cardiologist (Dr Damian Brezinski) were sitting by the Wilmington NC waterfront drinking Red Bulls. Each came from a completely different world, but all recognized a common bond- the power of music.
Music unified these individuals and nine months later a benefit concert headlined by Edwin McCain and the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra successfully raised over $250,000 for emergency pediatric care in Wilmington, NC. That was just the beginning. Inspiration had taken hold and a volunteer team have joined the forces. Chords for a Cause emerged as an annual event continuing to move and inspire others. The music has created a spark within the community.
"Chords for a Cause takes powerful resonance that music can create and use it to bring people together to help those in need. Our dedicated group of volunteers come from all walks of life, but they all share the passion and the belief that what we are doing will create a lasting, positive legacy. Each and every one of us believes in the power of music and its ability unite us all for a common good," Dr. Damian Brezinski
Our goal is simple-we want to pass on the inspiration and unity brought together in music to others in need.
Join us and listen to the music.
